Martin Luther King, Jr. was fatally shot fifty years ago on April 4, 1968, in Memphis, Tennessee. Poet, preacher, and prophet, King lived an incredible life and left an extraordinary legacy as the leader of our country's civil rights movement. For this tribute concert, in addition to orchestrated settings of traditional spirituals and gospel music, the Chorale will present Dana Wilson's powerful musical setting of King's famous "I Have a Dream" speech, delivered from the Lincoln Memorial steps in 1963. This concert certainly promises to be one of the most moving in the Chorale's history.
There will be a pre-concert talk @ 6:45pm.
