First, your Fort Collins Symphony extends our heartfelt gratitude to you for your unwavering and generous support during our 2020-21 season. You have kept us playing, provided much needed encouragement, and proven how much music matters when the going gets rough. Thank you.

As we exit a year like no other, your FCS evaluated how the Great Pandemic impacted our lives. REFLECTIONS: The Emotions of Music—our 2021-2022 Signature Concert Season—captures the breadth of human sentiments we felt as we journeyed through more than 18 months of physical and social isolation. Sadness, loss, anxiety, uncertainty, fury, and introspection gave way to hope, contemplation, creativity, mirth, playfulness, opportunity, serenity, and new revelations about our personal and collective lives.

Music—across time, culture, and distance—has been and is an emotional endeavor.  It allows us to hear what certain feelings sound like.  It inspires us to express what can be difficult to verbalize. From the dawn of humanity, composers and musicians have deftly interpreted their circumstances through the medium of sound.  Of course, we can enjoy music from any time period for its own sake. But when we dig deeper into the context that brought a composition to life, we are more fully able to appreciate, engage, and resonate with its emotional origins.

Your FCS invites you to immerse yourself in the musical range of human emotions through a wealth of familiar and new works. This season’s repertoire includes favorite classical composers such as:  Ludwig van Beethoven, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Claude Debussy, and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. We are also excited to highlight such groundbreaking and contemporary composers as: Florence Price, George Walker, Chen Yi, Oskar Morawetz, Leonard Bernstein, Joan Tower, Jessie Montgomery, and Coleridge-Taylor Perkinson. Our invited guest artists include: Linda Wang (violin), Bryan Wallick (piano), Anthony Elliott (cello), and Oto Carrillo (horn).

Please join us as we present the rich emotions of music. We can’t wait to see you in person!

Fort Collins Symphony Attendance Policy:

With the rise in COVID-19 cases from the highly infectious Delta variant impacting Larimer County at this time, the Fort Collins Symphony (FCS) remains vigilant in our efforts to ensure that everyone is as safe as possible. The CDC currently recommends universal masking for indoor public events in all communities with transmission levels that are substantial or high. Larimer County is experiencing high transmission levels of COVID-19, which are projected to remain high for the unforeseeable future.

Based on this fact and due to an abundance of caution for all, the FCS has made the decision to require all audience members, musicians, and staff to wear masks (properly covering mouth and nose) indoors at all times while attending our events—including those who are fully vaccinated. If you are unable or unwilling to wear a mask, please do not attend in-person FCS performances. Masks will be provided to those who arrive without them.

Thank you for your understanding, patience, and cooperation as the FCS is doing its best to provide the safest possible environment for everyone involved. Please note that attendance requirements are subject to change.
