This exhibit focuses in on the beauty and simplicity of everyday life. These series of works guide the viewer through a seemingly mundane narrative, in a way that stirs intrigue. Whether that is through color, or scale, or media, each of the four included artists shown here transforms an ordinary situation into a thought-provoking opportunity to draw attention to one’s surroundings.
Andrew DeCaen (Denton, TX)
Andrew DeCaen received a BA from the University of Dallas, Irving, Texas, and an MFA from the University of South Dakota, Vermillion. His artworks have been shown internationally and featured in numerous publications. DeCaen lives and works in Denton, Texas, where he is an Associate Professor of Art at the University of North Texas.
Morgan Ford Willingham (Emporia KS)
Morgan Ford Willingham is a photographic artist and educator. After receiving an MFA in photography from Texas Woman’s University, Denton, she moved to the Midwest to pursue a career in academia and art making. Morgan explores pop culture, advertising, and societal norms to better understand the influence on women’s identity and self-image, using various mediums, including photography, mixed-media, book arts, and installation. She is currently Associate Professor of Photography at Emporia State University in Emporia, Kansas.
Teddi Parker (Fort Collins, CO)
Teddi Parker, a Fort Collins based painter, has been painting almost daily since 2014. Her passion for painting started at a young age and was greatly encouraged by her family throughout her early life. She is now making up for the lack of formal artistic training and is currently learning how to better evoke emotion through vibrant use of color. What started out simply as a hobby (and a means to cover the empty walls of her friends' apartments) has sprouted into a discovery of the power of beauty through painting.
Whitney Sage (Naperville, IL)
Whitney Sage is a multidisciplinary artist and educator from metro-Detroit currently serving as Assistant Professor of Art at North Central College in Naperville, Illinois. Whitney graduated from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, with a BA in Art Education and Painting. Whitney earned an MFA in Studio Art from the Sam Fox School of Visual Art at Washington University in St. Louis.
