A BREATH OF PLEIN AIR: CELEBRATING FORT COLLINS NATURAL AREAS

Apr 24 - Jul 3, 2021

The Lincoln Center Art Gallery is proud to present the Plein Air Artists of Colorado in capturing the City of Fort Collins Natural Areas. “En plein air” is the French expression for “in the open air.” Plein air painting is about leaving your studio behind and experiencing painting and drawing in the landscape. During the COVID-19 Pandemic, this Fort Collins artist group came together, while remaining six feet apart, and continued to create their artwork. This exhibition emphasizes the importance of the Natural Areas and the role they play in keeping our community healthy. Within a Natural Area you can see, touch, feel, and experience natural and cultural treasures of Fort Collins. The plein air painters’ desire to be in nature and paint its changing qualities has captured a hint of these treasures to share with you.

Shown above is Fossil Creek Longs View by Jenifer Cline. It was painted in the Fossil Creek Wetlands Natural Area.
