Celebrate the Lunar New Year with the Confucius Institute of Colorado State University at the 2016 Chinese Spring Festival Gala. Enjoy musical performances by artists from China and the University of Northern Colorado that include traditional Chinese instruments like the cucurbit flute, the pipa and the zither. In modern China, Spring Festival is the celebration of Chinese New Year, also known as Lunar New Year. It is the most important holiday of the year – a time for family to come together in the tradition of honoring gods and ancestors. The Spring Festival is typically celebrated from New Year’s Eve (in the lunar calendar) to the 15th day of the first month of the New Year. 2016 is the Year of the Monkey, symbolizing wit, dignity and renewal.

Director of the Art Institute of Youth Arts Practice Center of Anhui University, Department of musical discipline director, vocal instructor, Anhui Musicians Association Professional Committee, deputy secretary-general. Won "CCTV National Young Singer TV Grand Prix" Division in Anhui and Hubei, the first division; "Chinese Music Golden Bell Award for Vocal Competition" Division in Anhui, Hubei, the first division; "China International Vocal Competition" Gold; "2015 Italy Teresa Belloc international Vocal Competition "Silver and so on.
Cheng Xie, soprano, Guangdong Province Musicians Association, currently teaches at the Guangzhou Xinghai Conservatory of Music in music education. 2007 admitted to the Department of Xinghai Conservatory of Music in 2011, graduated with first grade, was admitted to the Department of China Conservatory of Music.
Gang Huang, postgraduate of Music in School of Arts, Anhui University, member of the Committee of Vocal Music of Anhui Musician Association, Chairman of Youth Art Center, Head of the National Symphony Orchestra, Head of Art Troupe in School of Art and Minister of Education Department of Bamboo Flute Association in Anhui University, won a lot of awards in the field of vocal music, such as Gold Award of Vocal Music in Youth Group, Anhui Division in the International Communication Competition of Chinese Arts, participated in the Ninth International Chorus Tournament in Busan, South Korea, in the Art Tour in Confucius Constitute of Catholic University of Chile, St. Thomas University, Universidade Federal Do Rio Grande Do Sul and University of Brasilia, in the Sino-Russian Youth Cultural Forum of Mesopotamia held by Chinese Foreign Ministry and won the title “ Outstanding Youth”.
UNC Jazz Lab Band I has long been recognized as a top university jazz ensemble. In May 2014, they toured to Shanghai, Wuhan, Beijing, and Tianjin in China performing and teaching masterclasses. The band performed concerts at Shanghai Concert Hall, Wuhan Qintai Concert Hall, and Beijing Forbidden City Concert Hall. UNC jazz has had impact on students from Shanghai Conservatory of Music, Wuhan Conservatory of Music, Beijing Central Conservatory of Music, Beijing Contemporary Music Academy, Beijing 166 Middle School, and Tianjin Conservatory of Music.
